2 medium overripe Plantain (If you cannot find plantains near where you live, then your best replacement options are bananas, potato, yuca root / cassava root, jackfruit, and sweet potato).
2 cups lukewarm water
Oil to fry (deep frying)
Directions
Mash the overripe plantains. Add flour, yeast and sugar followed by water and mix till the batter is thick and smooth.
Cover the batter with cling film and let it rest for 30-45 minutes in a warm environment.
Tips: Always dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water. Allowing the dough to rise will yield a fluffy puff puff.
Next, start deep-frying by putting a deep pan dish on medium heat. Add oil and heat until it’s hot.
Place one dairy free chocolate button in the batter and scoop together. Push Chocolate vegan buttons melt beautifully!
Tip: Scoop enough with your hand or ice cream scoop to make sure your puff puffs are just the right size!
Drop the batter balls in the oil and deep fry till crispy and golden brown.
Tip: Fry the batter balls in batches to make sure that they don’t stick together.
Remember to drain the excess oil on a kitchen towel, and enjoy.
